Oricalculator Quilts

Tomoko Fuse has written the book Origami Quilts in which she creates quilts or patchwork patterns using folded shapes. Dankzij Dennis Walker kunt u nu heel eenvoudig de juiste papiermaten bepalen voor een aantal patronen.
Dennis heeft op zijn eigen website een Excel bestand staan waarin deze verhoudingen ook berekend worden.

The book has two versions: an English and a Japanese. Here we use the English names with the page numbers of both version. Note: Dennis uses slightly different names.

Enter the size of the paper of the largest polygon in the field below, the sizes will be calculated automatically. When you start entering the calculations will be displayed.

The units of the sizes are equal to the number you enter, i.e. if you enter the size in inches, the calculated sizes are also in inches.

In the following, the sizes given are generally for the side of the square required to make that unit. However, in the cases where I have written 'Triangle', or 'Pentagon', the size given is the length of the side of the original Triangle or Pentagon that is used to create the unit. In the case of the Pentagons, the starting square to create the pentagon using the method given on page 23 (japanese version) or page 33 (english version) of the book is in brackets beside the pentagon value.

These 5 quilts use a connecting size called 'connector'. If the value of connector can be made to match (to within a millimetre or so), then the connections can be mixed and matched between quilts.
